A two hour visit with San Francisco brother and fam at Red Iguana. (The pleasure of insisting my mother order a Horchata and of course, mom loving it like I knew she would.)
I'd like to buy the world a Hortchata, and keep it company.
Remember our hippy childhood?
Thursday:
A lazy night with Chick-Fil-A on the porch swing. Oh and Charles and I got into a bit of a fight over the 5 Love Languages. Pretty much it just pisses us both off that our five love languages don't line up. Damnit Charles, why don't you want to serve me ALL DAY! Damnit Erica, why can't we have a lot MORE SEX!
We went to bed irritated.
So much for self-help.
Friday:
Drove to the Utah State Office of Education in Salt Lake to make official my teaching license. I snagged Charles for a date at Trio and ate an entire margherita pizza by myself, but the patio was too hot at 96 degrees and we got the waiter who is heavy footed and clanky with the plates. Ate and left.
Saturday:
Cleaning day--a holy day. Nothing better than clean laundry, clean floors, and clean sheets.
Then I took Maxwell and Mira up to Swiss Days where we ate an Authentic Swiss Navaho Taco, bought a crafty thing from Salty Bison, where they don't sell jerky but rather stuff like this...
I got my craft on and bought a bike on a board for 10 dollars. Wait, was I supposed to say "reclaimed wood"? We saw lots of people at Swiss Days: Sam and Sarah, Tamara and Leslie, Renae Salisbury, and many students. Then we had to rush home for sushi with friends. I was so hungry after eating the Navaho taco that I just had to order the volcano from Tsunami which is sort of like ordering a plate of sushi nachos.
Gotta support my girlish figure.
Sunday:
Woke up to an irritating comment on Facebook. Why do Republicans despise the poor? I spent the morning writing a piece for publication on the un-Chirstlike rhetoric surrounding the poor by Christians. Just maybe, and I'm only suggesting...Jesus didn't talk about the poor like they were greedy, lazy, contriving slobs who don't deserve his hard-earned money.
Listen to this.
"But wo unto the arich, who are brich as to the things of thecworld. For because they are rich they despise the dpoor, and they persecute the meek, and their ehearts are upon their treasures; wherefore, their ftreasure is their god. And behold, their gtreasure shall perish with them also." --2:Nephi 9:30
At church, Shar bore her testimony about answered prayers. I can't tell you how many hours I have sat with her, discussing our children. I think every young mom needs someone like Shar who will listen to their worries without judgment, and remind you of the most important thing in child rearing: love. She bore witness of Christ, said He is aware of her needs, and I was filled with love for her, and her life, and how wise AND FUN she is.
Her official diagnosis is now Scleroderma. And I'm pissed because my friend is going to f-ing die and that sucks shit.
Tom and Louise came for dinner. When I'm with them, I feel like an artist, and an intellectual, and it's really nice. They are moving close to us again, and I'm glad for some more T & L time.
Today:
Mira and I are headed up to the Bountiful Chuck-A-Rama so that I can meet my new Cousin-in-law (from China!) And tonight we are going to dinner with more friends.
Seriously.
You know ... Eat, eat, eat, eat, talk, talk, talk, family, friends...pretty much the best thing ever.

I think that pretty much says it: eat, talk, family, friends. I'm glad we're in your hood.
I am laughing so hard. I'm pretty sure Matt and I have had the EXACT same "Love Languages" conversation.
I've been saying we need to go to a life coach. Our love languages never match up. Also, I have reclaimed wood hanging on my wall, too. My sign says, "Every little thing is gonna be alright."
