Teachers, and Dishwasher Men, and Mormon Women -- Oh My!

Teachers are very simple people; let them do what they love--teach--and pay them for their time and you have happy teachers. I know I'm being vague here, because I want to protect myself, but teachers are having more and more placed on their shoulders and receiving less and less autonomy and joy--the reasons they teach. Usually I don't get too bothered by all this. I go to school, love my students, teach them and my life is good. But sometimes things get in the way of that and this was one of those weeks.

Also, I yelled at our dishwasher salesman and felt bad about it later.

Also, I was rilled up about the position of women in the Mormon church because Anne was asking me questions. Nothing like young people to help you remember your own twenties anger. I don't align myself with the group "Ordain Women" but do admire them for having the guts to address gender disparity in our church. I think women's voices are silenced again and again and I'm so tired of that being okay.

I was mad about too many things this week.

And here is what is weird. Charles and I had so much to celebrate this week. We had our anniversary! (21 years). We got really good news from the tax man! Life seems to be aligning for our greatest happiness, yet somehow these other issues took over my mind.

So I'm shrugging things off and am determined to feel joy!

Taking a nap then going for Hortchatas.

Love,

Erica

You and I should have discussed more than just the obvious topic this week, because I have been stressed by one of your other stressers this week, as well. Just so you know, I think you are amazing, and I feel privileged to teach alongside you. Happy napping.

I'm guessing that the dishwasher not arriving was at the very top of the list. May the force be with you.
