Facts About the Brain -- According to an English Teacher

Officially, I am off sweets. I am not doing this to loose weight, but rather to get my mind to a place of optimal performance. Does that make sense? I did a study of the brain over the summer and I was surprised to learn what my brain will do for me if I take care of it. It really is a magnificent organ, our brain. So is our heart, and neither likes sugar much. Also, meditation is so good for your brain--on a physical level. Neurons and synapses are happy when your brain gets a chance to rest via meditation. Also, did you know that the more positive experiences you have, the better your brain works--especially if you take notice of those experiences and really pay attention to them. So next time you are having a fabulous moment (like you are swinging on your porch swing)--take stock of it for a while, it's good for your brain (i.e. you'll remember stuff better, have a positive mood, you'll be more creative, and heal. . .)

I read this book. . .

But I didn't get online to talk about brains -- that's just where I ended up because I was telling you about not eating sweets. The real reason I got online is that I am trying to blog more because there are some people out there who actually complain when I don't blog.

I've been reading a lot lately. These two are the most recent. They were good.

Now I am reading Cutting for Stone. It's wonderful.

Hope you all have a great week.

So how is that non-sugar thing working?
