Destination: MOAB

So we picked up Ann-Kathrin from the airport, sent her to bed, and bright and early the next morning we loaded the car and took her to Moab. Charles couldn't come because he had just taken off a lot of work for our California trip and Harrison was hiking the narrows with the young men. Maxwell was our only boy, and just to let him feel like a man, I let him sit in the front seat of car even though he's technically not allowed until 12. (Mira tells me the world gets good when you turn 12. You go to Young Womens AND get to sit in the front seat.) I took this little convo to tell her that I used to sit on my Dad's lap WHILE HE WAS DRIVING when I was ya know, old enough to sit up. He'd let me run the steering wheel. I also sat in the back of trucks, never wore a seatbelt, drove four wheelers, bikes, scooters, roller skates and never once put on a helmet. I didn't even have one.

But I digress. When we go to Moab or Bryce Canyon, we like to stay in the KOA Cabins and here's why: it feels like camping! Except with really nice bathroom facilities, a shower, a community sink to wash all of your dishes, beds with mattresses (you bring your own bedding), a porch swing and in Moab, a swamp cooler. But it still FEELS like camping because you cook with brickets, eat at picnic tables, and gaze at the stars and there is red dirt everywhere. Perfect.

We decided to hike power damn which is a 40 minute hike to a waterfall and pool which you can cliff dive into. This hike ended up taking us 5 hours because I followed the wrong fork and wrong river. We ran out of water, got sun-burned and Ann-Kathrin ended up with poison ivy. Welcome Ann-Kathrin! You didn't know we would put you through an initiation. (Either did I.) We didn't even make it to the pools. The pictures below are from other pools of water.

I love Moab. So much.

Max and Mira begged me to take them to Double Arch. It was magnificent.

And once again the wild worked me over until I felt that God loves me infinitely. Like every drop of water coming off those falls were just for me. Like I am good just the way I am.
