When I feel that California is the greatest place on earth (eternal sunshine, Trader Joes, the sea), I am jolted into reality the moment I get on the freeway. Its pavement hell is California's dark side.
But the pavement walkway in this picture is so sticking cute I can hardly stand it. Found at Balboa Park Mexican artist colony, this walkway is made with painted blocks of concrete, and cement as its grout.
I fancy having this as the pathway to the back of the house, with lots of potted plants and vines growing about. Or the back patio. Or the Garden pathway. Or. Or. Or.
Oh the possibilities.

I love that place. We have pictures of the boys on those very pavers.
I've seen them paint concrete on the House & Garden Channel. You can do this.
