1:41 on Thursday Morning

I'm listening to a song that is going straight to my soul, "I and Love and You" by the Avett Brothers. It sings of Brooklyn. I love Brooklyn. I wrote my best story from a little apartment in Carol Gardens. And then cried. And then walked to a bakery.

Christmas was good, I could put up a bunch of pictures of smiling kids with perfect presents, delectable food and a happy tree, but instead I'll just say it was good and there was a lot of love and a lot of snow.

I was sick over Christmas, for four long days. I pushed through it, until the day after Christmas which is when I got in bed with two boxes of tissues, set up the humidifier, and watched Vertigo, Phsycho, Summer Hours, Singin' in the Rain, An American in Paris, Stage Coach and Beautiful Losers. By Monday afternoon I was better.

Christmas was sans A. It was the day after when sans hit me. We were chatting on facebook having a nice convo but I was so tired of it. Not hearing her voice, not seeing her hands....I have an idea, A. Get a tattoo and get kicked out of the program. Sail a ship. Hightail it out of there. Blow that popsicle stand. Cut and run.

I miss you.

I finished grading papers. Smart papers and a lot of A's. Now my life is free of obligation. I hate obligation. But then pure freedom is daunting too. Hmmmm. I'm doing a little thing called Project January. I'll blog about it later.

I am so glad you like the Avett Brothers, too. So much of their music speaks to my soul. Glad you're feeling well again.
