Insomnia

My old friend insomnia is back. Last night I lay awake worrying, which is funny because I really should be feeling a huge load off after turning in my final story yesterday, (a story about a boy, and a goat, and a father, and a girl named Vicky). The story was sort of rough, admittedly, but I really like the characters, the setting, and the tension. I just think the whole story needs to be developed a little better. But, even after turning the story in I felt anxious. There is much to be done; I have one last thesis revision and a whole stack of rhetorical analysis to grade. But in the wee hours it wasn't revisions or rhetorical analysis that occupied my mind.

Home Decorating Angst

My family room is driving me crazy. There are many problems with this room, the biggest being that the slip cover has shrunk and therefore only fits three quarters of the couch. Which would be fine for two years (which is how long the slipcovers have not really covered) but pushing three will really push me into the "I Can't Stand this Room" crazies. Also, I think the seating arrangement sucks; it just doesn't lure you in. A room should call out "come sit in this space with a book and a blankie, or a friend and a game of UNO.

So once I get the slipcovers done (ouch, will they be done by Christmas, do we even have the money?) I will put the furniture in new places. I have it in my head. Also, I really want curtains because I think they cozy up a room. Somer, how many yards should I buy for long draperies with a swag? Yes, I think I can sew these. I've done it once before, and I will make my mom help me, or sister Pam, or you.

So the list goes like this. 1. New slipcovers for couch, DI chair, (and in my dreams) the loveseat too 2. New curtains and curtain rod 3. Spray paint light fixture black 4. Replace hanging bookshelf with something else, haven't thought of it yet 5. Ficus tree 6. Pillows 7. Watch Charles crap his pants over the bill 8. Marital strife 9. Beautiful room 10. Marital strife.

Thus the insomnia. Is it really worth it?
