I know I might be a little late on this, but I finally bought matching Christmas dresses for you, Mira, and myself. In the 80s, mommy-daughter-matching-dresses were the rage, Laura Ashley style. They looked like this:
I realize now that my mom was too classy for that sort of thing; she had the sewing skills to pull it off but must have known that matching little-bow-peep was freak. I, on the other hand, was not classy and was thrilled when my sister Pam made us matching sister dresses for Christmas and Easter.
So I have bought us dresses. It went down like this "Oh...this dress would look really cute on Mira...this dress would look really cute on Anne...this dress would look really cute on me...and they are only twenty dollars at the half-yearly-sale at Nordstrom...credit card, please. Ca-Ching. Done."
Well here it is. What do you think?

I expect to wear these all at the same time at least once. And wouldn't those be cute as bridesmaids dresses if one was having a winter wedding in black and white?
Maxwell read The Fault in Our Stars. We bought the book on Saturday and he was done on Sunday. I love that Max has the moral maturity to handle that book. I love that he has added this to the other wonderful books he has read like Part-Time-Indian, The Book Thief, and The Catcher in the Rye. These are the types of books that never really go back up on the shelf. They make you more moral and empathetic--and I love seeing these things in my growing boy. We've always known he was special, yes?
Also, I know this is going to sound weird, but I met Kirsten Krasen at a church event. You know how my personal celebrities are not movie stars but home decorators? Well I look at three blogs every day--Little Green Notebook, Young House Love, and 6th Street Design School (Kirsten's blog). She was so lovely in person (and wearing a pink coat);we talked for at least 10 minutes and I knew she was as lovely as I had guessed.
What else? You know that I miss you when I get out your picture and pass it around my classroom for everyone to see.
You will be coming home soon and we will have Christmas and that will be nice.
Much love, Goose. Hang in there.

Oh Mom, I love you. Thank you for blogging. I went through all of your posts from like 2009 yesterday cause I was lonely and hearing your voice helped me. And then today I went through all of the emails you sent me when I was in Germany and you sure are a good mother and I miss you.
That dress is hot. I will ask you one thing. Can I wear my G's with them--with the sleeves? I'm sure that'd be easy to fix. But I won't worry about that anymore. It's a hot dress. I will need some new black high heels. Hehehe, us wearing them altogether is too funny. But it's such an elegant dress it won't matter.
I am contemplating cutting my hair for Christmas. I can't decide. Like pixie again. If I do it again, I will make sure to get the 6-week trim so it stays good looking for a while.
I'm realizing I'm writing all of this in a comment, so I'll stop now. I love you. I'm glad Max loves The Fault in Our Stars. I'm reading "Looking for Alaska" in German and love myself for understanding it. What was the other John Green book you read that you said I should read? Paper Towns?
Kiss.
oh yes, and i'm so glad you got to meet your blog celebrity (haha!) and i love it that she was everything you thought she'd be. checking out her blog now.
I love you too. Shade shirt. I love a shake-up with hair---but yours just barely grew out so maybe you want to enjoy it long for a while? Get a cut and color when you get home and see how it feels--if your hair still bugs you, chop it. Or chop it before christmas. Just know that what you are feeling is the I'm-out-of-the country-with-no-money-uglies, which may not be the best time to decide to chop your hair. But it doesn't matter-- you are gorgeous with short and long hair.
I love your posts! If I paid you, would you send me the top three exercises you use to get freshman to write well? My email is katysuz@gmail.com
"I am out of the country with no money uglies." Ha ha ha ha ha. Wise words from a wise mother.
Anne could shave her head and everyone would say, "Doesn't she look darling?"
Getting freshman to write well. I think my heart just stopped.
