Getting Emotional Pt. 1

Before we went to Germany we ended up at a piano recital for Maxwell.

For almost a week prior I had felt that at any moment I would begin to cry, as if hot tears were just below my skin and would suddenly sob out.

We got to the last recital piece and sure enough, something about the song and the way that the teenage girl played sent me straight to tears. Tear after tear after tear streamed down my face, washing off my make-up until I felt strangely relaxed.

I kept hold of the recital program so that at home I could look up the music, order it, and begin to play that most exquisitely lovely song.

Which is what I did. Which is when I found that the song that so moved me was from the movie Twilight, "A River Flows in You."

I hadn't gotten into Twilight mania.

Because I am a snot.

But now I have the song and am learning to play it, and I'm going to read the books too.

Did Stephanie Meyers write the music too?

Don't waste your time and intelligence on the books ... just see the movies ... ;0)

i'm not going to read the books, but i did find the sheet music online and i did download a pdf.

it's ok because stephanie meyers DID NOT write the music??

p.s. ok. i did read twilight but i read it after i had my wisdom teeth removed (never, never remove wisdom teeth at age 40). i think reading twilight was more painful than the wisdom teeth removal.

Oh, come on, it's such a fun series. It's certainly not high literature, but it is a very fun, engaging read.

What is it about certain songs (and our emotional state while listening to them) that just sends us over the edge?
