I went to knit night. There is a little group that meets across the street to learn from the master knitter himself, yes HIMself! I learned to do new things like "cast on" and "knit." This was all very fun, even though I had to re-cast several times (and again when I got home, and again this morning, and still have not successfully transfered from cast to knit). But I digress. Part of project January (oops still haven't posted anything on project January) is to 1. Get up 2. Do fun projects 3. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. After all this effort, January just might become my favorite month. The twenty-eighth is, after all, my special day. Plus, I like how January sounds. One of my favorite actresses is January Jones. But I digress again.
So I went to knit night to keep away the winter blues and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! We started at nine. Charles was fine with me leaving because he had some freelance to do and wanted to watch one of his macho blood and gut movies while he worked on the mindless blah that is often his job. (And to think we thought graphic design would be creative.) So I was sitting in a house across the street attempting to knit and letting all of my caddy, annoying, know-it-all self hang out for my neighbors to see. Then the time started ticking. At eleven I thought, if I leave now I can see Charles before he goes to sleep. But then we started doing a rhetorical analysis of Julie Beck's "Women Who Know" talk and then we started talking about blogs, and then the hospitality industry, and pretty soon it was way after midnight. That is when I jumped back across the street to my little house and lo and behold, my man was asleep. I hate that. For that matter I hate it when I am not around to tuck my kids in bed, or greet them after school. I hate it if I'm gone and my teenagers come home and I miss out on their "just got in and am excited and want to talk" mode.
So pooey. He was asleep. So I might need to add a number 4 to project January.
4. Go to bed with Charles.

You'll have to teach me how to get from cast on to knitting. My mother always did the first row.
I am so looking forward to another knit night! I need all the help i can get!
